04/27 Deep Point, NC - Great Bridge, VA
We finally were able to leave Deep Point after being trapped for two days. We had arrived on Tuesday evening from Cedar Creek, not far off the Neuse River. On Wednesday we had a lot of rain and wind. The bridge across the Alligator River was closed for part of the day due to the wind. Thursday I took the boat out onto the river, but a nasty chop and winds of nearly 30 knots on the nose sent me right back into the anchorage. As it turned out, the bridge was closed for the entire day.
On Friday we were finally able to leave the anchorage for points north. Once out on Albemarle Sound we had a great sail in the company of Xanadu, a German Frers 53. They took these pictures of ADAGIO under way.
The ADAGIO is the slow movement in a symphony. Life on a sailboat should be a bit slower than the usual pace of life. I find many adagio's to be very powerful, graceful and moving; you can feel the violas and cellos transporting you to another plane. Looking at these pictures of ADAGIO you can appreciate her grace and power.
