The Boat: ADAGIO
ADAGIO is a 1987 Sabre 42 that we bought in 1998. Previously we owned a 1988 Pearson 31 for eight years. A lot of thought went into the decision to buy this boat. Basically it all boiled down to a question of getting where we are going as safely and quickly as possible while keeping in mind that we ordinarily sail in shallow water. Specs for the boat.
ADAGIO is equipped as one would expect for a
long coastal cruise with four people living aboard. Lots of other web sites go into a lot of detail here, so I'll spare you. You can also find more about us and the boat with a click. She is shown here in the shadow of Domino Sugar at Tidewater yacht Services in Baltimore. |

This is the layout for the 425 not our 42, but the boats are so similar that little violence is done by using this drawing.
The galley The stove has three burners and an oven. It uses CNG; less heat per unit of measure, but it is lighter than air so poses less risk of blowing us all up than does propane. |
|
The nav station This is the heart of communications, electronics and navigation for the boat. We don't have an SSB radio, but do have a shortwave receiver. |
|
The aft cabin, or quarter berth. Christopher has staked this out as his teenager's lair.
The forward cabin, or v-berth. This is Dians' room. She shares it with a lot of gear.
The salon. The settee on the left, or port, folds out for our berth.
Specificatons: ADAGIO is a centerboard boat. |
